Governor Uba Sani Enhances Healthcare in Kaduna With New Cardiac Centre
KADUNA, Nigeria — Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Kaduna received a significant boost on Tuesday with the commissioning of a new Cardiac Centre in Tudun Wada, a community in the Kaduna South local government area. The facility, which features advanced technology, is part of a partnership between the Kaduna State Government and the Muslim World League.
The centre is set to provide comprehensive cardiovascular diagnosis, treatment, and care, aiming to reduce the number of patients seeking medical attention abroad, according to a statement from Malam Tahir Umar Tahir, Director General of the Kaduna State Interfaith Bureau. The facility will be inaugurated by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League.
Tahir highlighted the ongoing achievements under Governor Sani’s administration since he took office, noting the renovation and upgrading of all 255 primary healthcare centres in the state to Level 2 status. The governor has actively worked to expand access to maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent healthcare services, strengthen routine immunization initiatives, and enhance disease surveillance.
In addition, the administration has improved community outreach programs, bolstered emergency preparedness, and supported the implementation of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund. Efforts to expand health insurance coverage have also been made through the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority.
The statement also addressed the revitalization of secondary healthcare in Kaduna, detailing infrastructure upgrades in general hospitals and the procurement of modern medical equipment to enhance diagnostic capabilities.
Furthermore, Governor Sani has prioritized hiring healthcare professionals and investing in their training and capacity building. The state continues to implement the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for doctors and the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for other healthcare professionals. The governor has also ensured regular funding of the Medical Residency Training Fund, demonstrating a commitment to developing specialists in the healthcare sector.
The commissioning of the Cardiac Centre marks the addition of a new tertiary healthcare facility in Kaduna, complementing the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital, which was inaugurated by the President in June 2022.
