“My kids will work in my father’s companies, not in entertainment industry’ – Davido

Davido Expresses Desire for Children to Avoid Entertainment Industry
Nigerian Afrobeat singer Davido has declared that he does not wish for his children to pursue careers in the entertainment sector. In a recent interview with the popular radio show “Breakfast Club,” he revealed that his children are expected to work in the companies owned by their grandfather, Deji Adeleke.
Davido cited his own struggles before achieving success in the music industry as a major factor in this decision. He believes that being employed in his father’s businesses will provide a more stable and easier life for his children.
Reflecting on his past, Davido shared that his father’s initial refusal to support his music career was deeply disappointing and “killed his joy.” However, he affirmed his commitment to support any of his children who might choose to enter the entertainment field.
During the interview, the host asked Davido about his preferences regarding his children’s futures. The singer responded, “Omo, go and work with my dad. Every Christmas, my dad takes all the grandkids with him. And I could just see that upon all the things he has, including multiple private jets and all that, his happiness comes from seeing his grandchildren.”
He continued, “My father is single, so I just saw his happiness and I’m like, this is what life is all about. My dad not wanting me in the entertainment industry really killed my joy until he saw that this boy is really adamant about doing this. I wouldn’t want to do that to my kids as well. My daughter is already singing and dancing.”
