NAF airstrikes destroy terrorist strongholds in Adamawa, Borno

Nigerian Air Force Intensifies Counterterrorism Operations in Adamawa and Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has escalated its counterterrorism efforts in Adamawa and Borno states, conducting coordinated airstrikes on suspected terrorist strongholds in the Southern Tumbuns and Mandara Mountains.

The operations, which took place on May 19, 2026, specifically targeted areas in Bukar Meram and Chikide as part of the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai. The NAF conducted these strikes based on credible intelligence and prior reconnaissance missions that identified key terrorist logistics hubs, structures, and assembly points in the region.

In a statement released on Wednesday by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, officials reported that several terrorists were neutralized during the airstrikes, which also disrupted planned attacks. The strikes resulted in the destruction of logistics facilities and operational structures utilized by insurgents in the targeted areas.

Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, Chief of the Air Staff, emphasized the NAF’s commitment to ongoing joint operations aimed at restoring peace throughout the country. He stated that intelligence-driven air operations would persist in targeting terrorist hideouts, logistics networks, and operational bases across affected regions.

The Air Chief underscored the NAF’s determination to maintain pressure on terrorist groups until stability is achieved in the North-East.
