NAF neutralises terrorist figures in precision air strike

Nigerian Air Force Conducts Successful Air Strike Against Terrorists in Lake Chad Region

Maiduguri, Nigeria – The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), as part of the Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), achieved a significant operational success against terrorist groups in the Lake Chad region with a precision air strike on October 19, 2026.

Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, confirmed the operation in a statement released to the public. The air strike highlights the NAF’s ongoing commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, disrupting their logistics, and enhancing security in Nigeria’s North-East.

Preliminary assessments following the strike indicated that several high-ranking fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) were eliminated. This includes individuals identified as key members of the group’s security structure and leadership council, such as Jindullah, the Chief Security Guard and a close associate of Abu Saleem, as well as Abul Kissa, a member of the ISWAP Shura Council.

In addition to neutralizing personnel, the operation destroyed essential logistical assets, including boat engines and motorcycles, which are believed to facilitate the group’s movements and operational capacity.

The statement from NAF emphasized its commitment to conducting intelligence-led precision strikes against terrorist enclaves situated in challenging terrains. By targeting key operatives and logistical resources, the NAF aims to significantly weaken ISWAP’s operational capabilities, reducing its ability to coordinate activities and pose threats to vulnerable communities.

Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of Air Staff, reiterated the NAF’s determination to maintain decisive air operations against terrorist networks as part of the broader effort to restore peace and stability across the country. He stated that the NAF remains dedicated to collaborating with sister services and other security agencies to consolidate operational achievements, protect vulnerable communities, and support initiatives aimed at establishing lasting peace and security in the North-East.
