NAFDAC Warns Of Counterfeit Colgate Toothpaste In Circulation –

NAFDAC Issues Alert on Counterfeit Colgate Toothpaste in Nigeria

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a warning regarding the distribution of unregistered and suspected counterfeit Colgate toothpaste across Nigeria, particularly in Kaduna State.

In an official announcement, NAFDAC reported that its Post-Marketing Surveillance Directorate received a complaint about these products being sold in the region. Following the complaint, agency officials conducted an investigation at a local retail outlet, where they discovered two products labeled as “Coglaet ActivGel 100g” and “Coglaet Herbal 100g.”

The shop owner informed authorities that these items were obtained from a door-to-door sales representative but could not provide documentation of the purchase.

NAFDAC stated that the discovered products did not meet the regulatory standards for registration and quality assurance, posing potential risks to public health. The agency has since removed the products from circulation and is actively working to identify those responsible for their distribution.

Consumers are advised to remain vigilant and report any sightings of substandard or counterfeit products to local NAFDAC offices, through the agency’s hotline, or via its official email channels.
