Nasarawa Police arrest three over forged ICPC identity card, recover unregistered Lexus

Nasarawa State Police Arrest Three for Alleged Forgery of ICPC Identity Card
LAFIA, Nasarawa State — The Nasarawa State Police Command has taken three suspects into custody following the alleged forgery of an identity card for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The arrests occurred after police intercepted an unregistered Lexus IS 250 in Lafia.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Rahman Nansel, officers from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit stopped the vehicle during a routine patrol near Bukan Sidi. The car was carrying three occupants identified as Mohammed Umar, Mohammed Nuhu, and Ibrahim Suleiman.
Reports indicate that Nuhu claimed to be an ICPC officer and presented an identification card that he asserted was issued by the commission. However, upon questioning, driver Mohammed Umar was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the vehicle’s ownership, which led to the arrest of all three individuals for further investigation.
Subsequent police inquiries revealed that the identification card presented by Nuhu was allegedly forged. Nuhu also claimed he accompanied Umar from Kaduna State to Lafia because the driver did not possess a valid driver’s license.
In addition, police profiling linked Nuhu to the Eiye Confraternity, a known cult group. The suspects remain in custody as investigations are ongoing. Authorities plan to charge them in court, while efforts to ascertain the true ownership of the vehicle and any additional offenses related to the incident are underway.
Commissioner of Police for Nasarawa State, CP Shetima Jauro Mohamed, emphasized the command’s dedication to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, and a commitment to combating crime across the state. He also encouraged the public to remain vigilant and share credible information with law enforcement to assist in maintaining security.
