NCDC Confirms Two Suspected Ebola Cases in Adamawa Tested Negative –

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) reported that two individuals suspected of having Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Adamawa State have tested negative following two rounds of laboratory testing.

The NCDC confirmed that the individuals, who were isolated in Yola, exhibited symptoms consistent with EVD. A press statement released on Saturday, October 31, 2026, by NCDC Director-General Dr. Jide Idris, stated that the Adamawa State Public Health Emergency Operations Centre received the report early Friday morning, October 30.

Dr. Idris noted that samples were collected from the individuals for analysis as public health protocols were swiftly enacted. He commended the Adamawa State Commissioner for Health and their team for their prompt response and added that the NCDC is offering technical support to enhance the state’s operations.

Currently, there are no lab-confirmed cases of EVD in Adamawa State. The only confirmed case in Nigeria remains in the Federal Capital Territory.

The NCDC urged the public to stay calm and refrain from spreading unverified information regarding the situation. It advised anyone experiencing symptoms such as fever, severe weakness, headache, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, or unexplained bleeding—especially after potential exposure—to seek immediate medical attention. The agency also cautioned against self-medication and reminded individuals to inform healthcare workers about any relevant travel or contact history.

Dr. Idris assured the public that the NCDC, in collaboration with the Adamawa State Government and other partners, will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as new information becomes available.
