Nigerian Defence Academy to Conduct Annual Range Exercise

The Nigerian Defence Academy has announced plans to conduct its annual Range Classification Exercise for personnel of the Nigerian Army stationed at the academy. The exercise is scheduled to take place from May 4 to 9 at the NDA Open Range in Afaka.

Residents of nearby communities are advised not to be alarmed by the sound of gunfire during this period. Major Reuben Kovangiya, the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, emphasized the importance of public safety in a statement released on Monday in Kaduna.

Kovangiya urged residents of Mando, Tsamiya, Kauya, and the surrounding Afaka area to avoid trespassing near the range during the exercise. “The general public is hereby advised to stay clear of the range area for their safety,” he said.

The academy expressed gratitude for the continued cooperation of the local community and provided assurances from Maj.-Gen. Oluyemi Olatoye, the Commandant of the NDA, regarding the safe conduct of the exercise.
