NDLEA arrests suspected drug peddler in Kano

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Arrests Suspect in Kano Drug Bust

KANO, Nigeria — The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a suspect accused of drug trafficking at the Audu Bako Secretariat in Kano metropolitan area. The apprehension occurred during a targeted operation known as “Operation Sharar Mafaka.”

According to a statement released on Thursday by NDLEA spokesman Sadiq Maigatari, the arrest was made following credible intelligence that led operatives to dismantle drug trafficking activities within the secretariat.

Maigatari reported that when the suspect noticed the approaching officers, he attempted to evade capture by jumping from the second floor of the building. However, he was successfully detained, and officers recovered several packets of marijuana from him.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the individual has been involved in drug peddling for over two years.

NDLEA Commander Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal emphasized the agency’s commitment to preventing government facilities from being utilized as locations for illegal activities. “This serves as a warning to anyone who believes they can use government establishments as cover for their illicit operations,” he stated.

The operation continues as the NDLEA intensifies efforts to eliminate drug distribution points in Kano State and ensure accountability for offenders.
