Nigeria lost one of African fathers of music – Ebenezer Obey mourns Olaiya – Daily Post Nigeria

A Nigerian veteran musician, Ebenezer Obey, on Wednesday, mourned late highlife music legend, Victor Olaiya.

Obey acknowledged this in an interview with the Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He stated the music legend lived a life worthy of emulation.

The ‘Child Jowo’ crooner died at the age of 89, after a short sickness on Wednesday afternoon on the Lagos College Educating Hospital (LUTH).

Obey described Olaiya as an excellent chief who made a significant contribution to the expansion of Nigerian and African leisure business and laid good examples to be emulated.

He urged the youthful musicians to emulate late Olaiya to make exceptional progress within the business.

In accordance with him, late Olaiya remained targeted, hardworking and devoted to his profession.

“Nigeria has misplaced one of many African fathers of highlife music; he has contributed his quota to the event of the leisure business and I pray his soul rests in peace and God comforts his household.

“Olaiya was a really serious-minded one who projected the highlife music all through the complete world.

“He’s certainly a person to emulate. He later diverted to do enterprise and he was a profitable businessman additionally,” Obey stated

Olaiya retired from his musical profession in 2017 and had some hit tracks like: “Omopupa”; “Jemila”, “Pambotoriboto” amongst others
