Nigeria weighed down by avoidable challenges – Peter Obi

NDC Chieftain Calls for Hope Amid National Challenges During Eid-el-Kabir

Peter Obi, a prominent figure in the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed concern over the significant yet untapped potential of Nigeria, which he believes is hindered by avoidable issues.

In a message shared on his verified X account on Wednesday, Obi encouraged Nigerians to remain optimistic about the possibility of a functional and equitable nation where no citizen is neglected.

He extended his wishes to Muslims in Nigeria and worldwide as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, urging them to mark the occasion with faith, sacrifice, and hope.

“I warmly felicitate with the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and globally as they observe Eid-el-Kabir, a sacred occasion that embodies the timeless virtues of faith, sacrifice, obedience to God, compassion, and love for humanity,” Obi stated. “Let us focus our prayers on unity and hope at this year’s Sallah.”

Obi emphasized the importance of selflessness, tolerance, and a commitment to the common good, particularly at this crucial juncture in the nation’s history.

“Nigeria is a nation of immense potential, currently weighed down by avoidable challenges,” he noted. “However, the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir teaches us that after sacrifice comes fulfillment. We must never lose hope in the possibility of a functional, just, and productive nation.”

He called upon citizens to use this sacred period to pray for the security forces, seek wisdom for leaders, and advocate for meaningful economic relief for those facing difficulties. He also urged everyone to recommit to peace, mutual respect, and unity across different faiths and regions.

“May this Eid-el-Kabir bring joy to our families, peace to our communities, and renewed hope to our dear nation,” Obi concluded. “I wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters a blessed and joyful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.”
