Nollywood actors rally support for Ogogo as he battles severe cancer

Nollywood actors have come together to support veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, known as Ogogo, who is facing stage four cancer. This solidarity follows an emotional appeal from his daughters for urgent medical assistance.

Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has spearheaded the effort, calling on Nigerians and medical professionals to help the family locate specialists and treatment centers equipped to assess Ogogo’s condition. Adebayo emphasized that the family is seeking medical guidance rather than financial support.

“Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer,” Adebayo wrote on X. “If you know someone in the oncology field or have resources that could assist, please contact his family immediately.”

Actress Toyin Abraham also joined the initiative on Tuesday, sharing a video of Ogogo’s daughters on Instagram and encouraging anyone who can help to reach out. “Please kindly send a direct message to @kira_taiwo, @limataiwo_, or me. Any assistance would be appreciated,” she stated.

Earlier reports indicated that Ogogo’s daughter, Shaki Taiwo, had made a heartfelt plea for medical help in a viral Instagram video. She disclosed that her father’s treatment had been halted due to the severity of his condition.

Ogogo, age 66, is a renowned figure in Yoruba cinema, with a career that has spanned over four decades and included appearances in numerous films. He remains a prominent personality in the Nigerian film industry.
