Nollywood Actress, Angela Okorie Rearrested After Release From Prison

Angela Okorie Rearrested After Release from Suleja Correctional Centre

Officers from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have rearrested Nollywood actress Angela Okorie shortly after her release from the Suleja Correctional Centre.

The rearrest occurred just hours after fellow actor Stanley Ontop expressed concerns on social media about the potential for Okorie to be taken into custody again following her release.

In a video posted on Instagram, actress Doris Ogala reported that Okorie was apprehended on Tuesday for allegedly refusing to pay a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who facilitated her bail from Suleja prison. Ogala stated that she was en route to the police station to offer support.

“She has been arrested again. Angela had previously engaged a SAN for her bail, but now she claims she did not request the lawyer’s assistance and is refusing to pay the fee,” Ogala said in the video. “The SAN charged them N5 million for the bail processing, and now there are complications surrounding that payment.”

Okorie’s previous legal troubles began on January 26, when she was arrested in Lagos and subsequently transported to Abuja for arraignment in the Federal High Court on charges of cyberstalking and cyberbullying. The charges stemmed from a complaint filed by her colleague, Mercy Johnson Okojie.
