Northwest University Kano Refutes Claims About Emir’s Attendance
Northwest University Kano (NWUK) has issued a statement distancing itself from a viral video alleging that the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, attended lectures to address a carry-over in his studies.
In a release on Tuesday, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Ibrahim, labeled the claims in the video as false and misleading. The video depicted the Emir attending a public lecture organized by the International Humanitarian Law Society at the institution.
The statement clarified that various social media users had fabricated narratives suggesting that the Emir sought to resolve an alleged academic deficiency through attendance. The university’s management categorically rejected these assertions, describing them as “entirely false, baseless, misleading, and without any factual basis.”
NWUK urged its community and the general public to disregard the video and related claims, emphasizing the importance of refraining from the creation, publication, or distribution of such unfounded and defamatory content.
