NSCDC Mining Marshals intensify crackdown on illegal miners, warn operators
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has intensified its efforts to combat economic sabotage and illegal mining activities nationwide.
ACC Attah John Onoja, commander of the NSCDC Mining Marshals, stated that enforcement operations will continue throughout the country without a specific schedule. He emphasized the Corps’ commitment to ensuring that all mining activities comply with Nigerian law.
Recent operations in Nasarawa State, conducted in collaboration with the Federal Mines Officer and local mining regulation teams, were focused on enforcing adherence to established mining laws, operational guidelines, and safety protocols.
These renewed enforcement efforts align with the directives of NSCDC Commandant-General Ahmed Abubakar Audi and Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dr. Dele Alake, aimed at curbing illegal mining activities and reducing revenue losses in the sector.
Onoja reiterated that all mining operators must obtain valid licenses and meet necessary regulatory and operational requirements before engaging in mining activities.
