Obafemi Awolowo University Reports Death of Student During Examination

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife has announced the untimely death of Oreoluwa Emmanuel Adewole, a fourth-year student in the College of Health Sciences. The university confirmed the incident in a statement released on Thursday.

According to the statement, Adewole passed away during a clinical viva examination after expressing complaints of chest pain. University spokesperson Abiodun Olarewaju reported that immediate medical assistance was rendered by lecturers and fellow students present at the scene.

“Despite all efforts made to resuscitate him, he sadly passed on. This tragic loss has sent shockwaves through the university community,” Olarewaju stated.

Vice-Chancellor Simeon Bamire, on behalf of the university’s Governing Council, Senate, staff, and students, extended condolences to Adewole’s family, friends, and peers. The university is currently collaborating with relevant authorities and the family to offer support and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
