Okpebholo appoints three CEOs for Edo Line in 16 months, sacks two

Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has dismissed two managing directors of the New Edo Line Company, just over 16 months after the state-owned transport company was established.
According to reports, the governor has appointed three managing directors in that time to lead the company. Ms. Tinyan Otuomagie was named the inaugural Managing Director and CEO of New Edo Line Transport Services Limited on June 10, 2025. However, her tenure was cut short on January 15, 2026, when she was removed from her position and reassigned to the Ministry of Information.
Otuomagie was succeeded by Mr. Smart Aigbodion, the company’s General Manager of Maintenance, who served in an acting capacity until a permanent appointment was made. Aigbodion’s term was also brief; he was terminated from his position on October 18, 2026, after serving since January.
A statement issued by Barrister Umar Musa Ikhilor, Secretary to the Edo State Government, cited managerial inefficiency as the reason for Aigbodion’s dismissal, which took immediate effect. Following his departure, Engr. Paul F. Ogedegbe has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the New Edo Line Company.
