One killed, others injured in Osun cult clash

Osun State Police Investigate Fatal Cult Clash in Ede
The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the death of an unidentified man following a suspected cult clash in Ede town. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, has prompted authorities to begin a formal investigation.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Abiodun Ojelabi, the command’s spokesperson, reported that one person was killed during the clash. “Suspected cultists had a clash on Tuesday, and one person was killed. Investigation is ongoing,” Ojelabi stated.
Reports indicate that two undergraduates were killed in a related attack at an off-campus apartment occupied by students later that night. Sources familiar with the situation disclosed that approximately six students were assaulted by suspected cult members, who reportedly entered the residence armed with dangerous weapons.
A police source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the incident, suggested that the attack is connected to an ongoing rivalry between local cult groups. “The attack occurred in the night. The students were in their room when some cultists who were on a revenge mission forced their way into the apartment and began attacking them,” the source said. “The students sustained varying degrees of injuries, and two later succumbed to their injuries.”
Additional reports indicate that other injured students are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital. Preliminary information suggests that the clash involved members of the Aye and Buccaneer confraternities.
