Osun Decides: 55-year-old voter laments BVAS failure
A 55-year-old voter, Sharafa Lasisi, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address issues with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) that prevented him from being accredited to vote in the ongoing Osun State governorship election.
Lasisi, who is registered to vote at Alamisi Unit 6, reported that multiple attempts to complete the facial verification process were hampered by network issues.
In a statement, he said, “I have been to where they are supposed to verify my face, but they said the network isn’t letting the verification go through.” He recounted that election officials initially suggested he return later, expecting the issue to be resolved. However, upon his return, the problem persisted.
“They said I should go and eat at home. I went and came back, and it still didn’t go through,” he added.
Lasisi is urging INEC officials to take swift action to allow him and others affected to exercise their right to vote. “I want them to help me so I will be able to cast my vote also,” he said.
This situation highlights concerns regarding technical and network challenges impacting voter accreditation at some polling units during the Osun State governorship election.
