Osun Decides: ICPC official stops man from counting voters in Ede
An official from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) intervened during the governorship election in Ede, Osun State, on Saturday when he confronted a man allegedly counting voters at Akoda Ward 9, Unit 1.
A video shared by TVC News captured the moment when the ICPC official challenged the individual for attempting to keep a record of the attendees at the polling unit. The official instructed him to cease his actions and await the beginning of the voting process.
“When the election commences, we queue up. We are here to monitor. We don’t want any problems,” the ICPC official said. He emphasized that the man had no authority to record voter numbers, further adding, “You know your job.”
Following the exchange, the official directed the man to participate in the election by casting his vote, reinforcing the importance of adhering to the established voting protocol.
The incident occurred amid heightened monitoring efforts by security agencies and election observers throughout Osun State, aimed at preventing electoral malpractice and ensuring a smooth and orderly governorship election.
