Osun Decides: INEC uploads over 70 per cent of election results to IReV

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reported that it has uploaded more than 70% of the results from the recent Osun State governorship election to its Results Viewing Portal, known as IReV.

As of 7 p.m. on election day, a review by DAILY POST confirmed that INEC is adhering to its commitment to provide timely updates on the portal.

Voters throughout Osun State participated in the election on Saturday to select a governor for a four-year term at the Bola Ige Government House. A total of 15 political parties contended, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking re-election as the candidate for the Accord Party.

Two candidates, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Simon Adewale from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), previously announced their withdrawal from the race. Adeyemi-Doro endorsed Bola Oyebamiji from the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Adewale expressed support for Adeleke. Nonetheless, both APGA and APM remain on the ballot for the election.

Earlier reports indicated that Adeleke won at his polling unit, where the Accord Party secured 57 votes compared to APC’s 43 votes in Polling Unit 026, Ward 5, located in the Osogbo Local Government Area.

Results from additional polling units across the state continue to be reported as the collation process proceeds.

Despite successful voting in many areas, the election faced challenges, including reports of intimidation, vote-buying, and incidents of electoral violence in certain locations.
