Osun Election: 1.9m PVCs collected, 432, 843 unclaimed – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected in preparation for the Osun State governorship election, set for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
This figure accounts for 81.5 percent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in Osun State, according to Mohammed Haruna, chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee. Haruna reported on Friday that 432,843 PVCs, representing 18.5 percent of registered voters, remain uncollected. These uncollected cards have been sent to the Central Bank of Nigeria as per INEC protocols.
Additionally, some voters whose PVCs were lost, damaged, or defaced have sought replacements. Haruna noted that 6,101 individuals who applied for replacements have successfully printed downloadable copies of their PVCs.
To enhance transparency, INEC has released a detailed breakdown of collected PVCs by polling unit on its official website. Haruna emphasized that this initiative aims to keep stakeholders informed as the election approaches.
He assured political parties, civil society organizations, the media, and residents of Osun State that INEC is fully prepared for the upcoming election. “The commission reaffirms its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive election on Saturday, August 15, 2026,” the statement read.
