Nigerian Comedian Challenges Davido on Election Campaigning

Nigerian reality star and comedian DeeOne has called on musician Davido to focus on the achievements of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, in his campaign for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Osun State.

DeeOne made this statement in a video shared on his social media account on Friday evening, responding to Davido’s ongoing support for Adeleke’s re-election efforts.

In his remarks, DeeOne argued that if Davido does not highlight the governor’s accomplishments during his four-year term, Adeleke risks losing the forthcoming election. He emphasized that citizens of Osun State deserve effective governance rather than simply celebrity endorsements.

“Instead of using yourself, your brand, and your name to campaign for your uncle after he spent four years in office, showcase the work he has done,” DeeOne said. “There is no need to say, ‘I’m Davido, vote for Adeleke’ if you cannot communicate what your uncle has accomplished as governor.”

He further asserted that voters should not be swayed by emotion but should focus on tangible results. “Davido, the people of Osun State deserve good governance, not good entertainers,” he added.

The Osun State off-cycle gubernatorial election is set for August 15, 2026, with Governor Adeleke running as the candidate for the Accord Party (AP).
