Osun: Police deny alleged attack on Gov Adeleke’s son

Osun State Police Deny Assassination Attempt on Governor’s Son
The Osun State Police Command has refuted claims of an assassination attempt on Adebayo Adeleke, known as B-Red, the son of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Officials described the reports as false and unverified, cautioning that such information could incite unnecessary panic among the public. Earlier, the state government had issued a statement, signed by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, claiming that B-Red had escaped an assassination attempt in the Oke-Fia area of Osogbo on Wednesday.
In response to inquiries, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abiodun Ojelabi clarified the circumstances surrounding the incident. He stated that Adebayo David Adeleke reported being followed by a group of individuals on motorcycles while driving in the Olaiya–Alekuwodo area of Osogbo on April 30, 2026.
Ojelabi noted that the individuals allegedly pointed at Adeleke’s vehicle and chanted phrases indicating he was “the Governor’s son.” After passing a traffic light, he reported that a white Toyota Venza, lacking a registration number, accompanied by unidentified men on motorcycles, continued to trail him.
The complainant confirmed that he and his associates managed to escape the situation safely and reached the Government House in Oke-Fia without incident. Ojelabi stated there was no physical harm or attack during the encounter.
The police have transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation. Ojelabi reiterated that the command stands by its statement that the circulated reports are unfounded and could lead to unnecessary tension in the community.
