Oyo Attack: My heart is heavy – Actress Toyin Abraham mourns victims

Nigerian Actress Toyin Abraham Expresses Grief Over Abductions in Oyo State
Nigerian actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham publicly mourned the recent kidnappings and violence affecting communities in Oyo State. In an Instagram post on Wednesday, she described her profound sorrow over the events that have unfolded in the region.
“My heart is deeply heavy over the painful killings and abductions happening in Oyo State and across different parts of Nigeria,” Abraham stated. She emphasized her personal connection to the area, citing her familial ties and cultural roots.
Abraham expressed sympathy for the victims’ families, particularly those affected by the recent attacks in Oriire Local Government. “No Nigerian deserves to live in fear. No child should be afraid to go to school,” she said. “It is heartbreaking to see innocent lives lost and families thrown into mourning.”
While acknowledging the efforts of security agencies and the Oyo State Government, Abraham called for urgent action to secure the release of those still abducted and to enhance community protection. She urged the state government to implement measures to prevent future tragedies.
“This is a time for unity, compassion, and collective responsibility,” she added. “We cannot normalise violence. We must continue to speak up, support one another, and pray for peace to return to our land.”
Abraham concluded her post by offering condolences to grieving families and a hope for healing across the nation.
The recent violence includes the beheading of a male teacher who was abducted in Oyo State and the deaths of at least ten individuals in Oyo and Katsina States.
