Oyo fire agency recovers five bodies, rescues 10 as tanker somersaults in Ibadan

At least 10 people were rescued following a serious accident involving a tanker on Saturday in the Ajao area of Ibadan, along the Iwo Road–Ojoo Expressway. This information was confirmed by Hon. Maroof Akinwande, Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, in a statement released on Saturday.
The accident occurred when a tanker, registered under the number B14R316XB from Abuja and transporting 45,000 liters of Automotive Gas Oil, lost control. According to Akinwande, the tanker somersaulted and collided with a Nissan Micra (registration number AGG669XK from Oyo) and three other vehicles, whose registration numbers remain unidentified.
Emergency responders recovered five deceased individuals from the accident site and successfully rescued 10 others alive. Akinwande attributed the cause of the accident to brake failure of the tanker.
The deceased were transferred to local authorities, with the assistance of officers from the Kajorepo Divisional Police Headquarters, while the rescued individuals received medical attention.
