Oyo kidnap: Sowore threatens to lead protest to Aso Rock

Activist Threatens Protest Over Abducted Schoolchildren in Oyo State

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has vowed to lead a protest at the presidential residence, Aso Rock Villa, if the abducted schoolchildren in Oyo State are not rescued promptly.

In a post on social media platform X on Sunday, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate called on President Bola Tinubu and the country’s security leaders to take immediate action.

“If Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his service chiefs fail to track down and secure the release of the abducted Oyo schoolchildren and other kidnapped individuals, we will have no choice but to occupy Aso Rock Villa this week,” Sowore stated.

The incident, which occurred on May 15, involved gunmen attacking schoolchildren in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The attack resulted in the kidnapping of at least 45 schoolchildren and teachers, as well as the death of an assistant head teacher and a commercial motorcyclist.

Sowore’s remarks underscore growing concern over the safety of children in educational institutions in Nigeria.
