The Pan African Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has expressed support for the Federal Government’s initiatives aimed at improving energy supply, offering affordable long-term financing for industries, strengthening local procurement, securing industrial corridors, and establishing regular consultations with manufacturers.

According to PAMA, these priorities align with its mission to advance industrialization, strengthen regional value chains, and enhance intra-African trade.

However, the association emphasized that the successful implementation of these commitments is crucial for improving the operational climate for manufacturers, increasing industrial productivity, and enhancing Nigeria’s competitiveness in both regional and global markets. PAMA made these remarks during its commendation of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) for hosting its 54th Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The AGM, themed “Leveraging National Industrial Policy to Position Nigeria as Africa’s Industrial Hub,” centered on the Nigeria Industrial Policy 2025 (NIP 2025). Key topics included enhancing manufacturing competitiveness, expanding access to industrial finance, reducing energy costs, and promoting local value addition.

A highlight of the event was the 6th Adeola Odutola Lecture, presented by Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, former Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

Discussions during the meeting underscored the importance of translating industrial policy commitments into measurable economic results through effective implementation, institutional accountability, and ongoing collaboration between the public and private sectors.

PAMA reiterated its dedication to fostering a partnership with MAN, noting that closer cooperation among manufacturers across Africa is vital for developing regional value chains and enhancing industrial capacity. The association also highlighted opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Further, PAMA stressed the need to cultivate a competitive and integrated African manufacturing sector capable of promoting sustainable economic growth, creating jobs, and enhancing the continent’s involvement in regional and global trade.
