LAGOS — Popular TikTok personality Habeeb Hamzat, widely recognized as Peller, recently acknowledged the support he received from Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele while he was incarcerated.

Peller was arrested in December 2025 after being implicated in a deliberate car accident in Lagos, following a breakup with his girlfriend, Jarvis. The Federal Road Safety Corps ordered his arrest and subsequent prosecution for reckless driving.

At the premiere of the movie “Love Notes,” Peller publicly thanked Akindele for her assistance in securing his release from prison. “She was the one who helped me when I was in prison. She was the one who helped my life,” he stated.

In related news, fellow Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo shared her own experiences with Funke Akindele’s family, recounting how the late mother of Akindele provided crucial support during a difficult time in her life. In an Instagram post, Ojo reflected on how the care provided by Akindele’s late mother helped protect her children, Festus and Priscilla, from a potentially serious situation.

Ojo described Akindele’s mother as a remarkable individual whose compassion extended far beyond her professional duties. During a period marked by fear and doubt, Ojo expressed gratitude for the reassurance and protection offered by Akindele’s mother, which ensured the safety of her children.

She also highlighted the ongoing spiritual support she felt from the late doctor, recalling that even during moments of disagreement, she sensed her presence and prayers guiding her.
