The burial arrangement for the Novice Monk who was abducted and killed by kidnappers in Kwara state, has been announced. 

The administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Ilorin, Fr. Anselm Pendo Lawani, confirmed that the two postulants were later released while Brother Godwin Eze, was brutally murdered and his body thrown into a river. 

A Kwara based Catholic faithful, Akpuogwu Michael, in a post on Wednesday, November 8, said that the slain monk will be laid to rest at the Monastery on November 22. 

The monk’s funeral will be held on December 2, 2023 at St Mary’s Parish, Enugu-Ezike, his hometown. 

“Brother Mark Onyekachi Godwin Eze was a Novice Monk of Benedictine Monastery, Iruku Kwara State. He hailed from Ezilo Enugu-Ezike. Mark was abducted from the monastery last week, killed and the body thrown into the river, by kidnappers. Please, pray for his happy repose. He would be buried on 22nd November 2023 at the Monastery. His funeral comes up on 2nd December 2023 at St Mary’s Parish, Enugu-Ezike. Time: 10.00 am. Thank you.”
