Police arraign 21-year-old man caught with 32 SIM cards in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 21-year-old man, Isaac Tony, before the Ogba Magistrates’ Court, Ogba, for alleged possession of 32 SIM cards suspected to have been used for Internet fraud.

 

The defendant was arrested on December 15, 2022, on Apakan Lane, in the Oshodi area of the state. 

 

The charges read in part, “That you, Isaac Tony, on December 15, 2022, around 8.40pm on Apakun Lane, Oshodi, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, was found in possession of 32 pieces of GSM SIM cards of various networks, such as MTN, 9mobile, Airtel, suspected to be used for fraudulent practices.”

 

The offences were said to be punishable under sections 328 (1) and 329 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.

 

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of 100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

 

Magistrate M.F. Onamusi adjourned the matter till January 31, 2023, for mention.
