Lagos Police Arrest 150 Suspects, Seize Weapons and Drugs in Raids
LAGOS—The Lagos State Police Command announced the arrest of 150 suspects and the recovery of 100 unregistered motorcycles, firearms, suspected stolen property, and illicit drugs during a coordinated operation on Sunday in the Igando and Idimu areas.
In a statement issued Monday by Police Public Relations Officer SP Abimbola Adebisi, authorities indicated that the operation was part of the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE, targeting criminal hideouts in locations including Boolar and the Oko Filling Bus Stop in Igando, as well as identified problem areas in the Area M, Idimu axis.
The early morning operation began at approximately 5:45 a.m. and was executed following credible intelligence. A joint team of officers from various divisions of the Lagos State Police Command participated in the raid.
“As part of Operation KO S’AYE, the Lagos State Police Command has intensified its clearance activities against crime across the state, reaffirming its commitment to eliminate safe havens for criminals,” the statement read.
Recovered during the raids were 100 unregistered motorcycles, 54 mobile phones, one double-barrel gun, two single-barrel guns, one locally made shotgun, two military camouflage uniforms, assorted charms, six generators suspected to be stolen, and substances thought to be Indian hemp, among other illicit drugs.
All suspects are currently in police custody as investigations proceed to establish their individual roles. Those identified as having committed crimes will face legal proceedings accordingly.
Police Commissioner Tijani Fatai emphasized the command’s dedication to ongoing anti-crime efforts throughout Lagos, commending police operatives for their professionalism and commitment to ensuring public safety and security.
