Delta State Police Arrest 202 Suspects in Asaba Operation

ASABA, Nigeria — The Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Yemi John Oyeniyi, has arrested 202 individuals during a targeted raid on criminal hideouts in the Asaba area.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe announced the operation, which took place on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The raid was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Department of Operations, with the support of various officers from the command.

According to Edafe, the operation was initiated based on credible intelligence gathered by the State Intelligence Department. Officers conducted searches at locations identified as brothels and suspected drug dens.

The arrests included 102 males and 100 females, with charges related to operating illegal brothels, as well as possession and sale of suspected illicit drugs.

Additionally, police officials seized five motor vehicles, ten tricycles, and ten motorcycles for violations of traffic regulations and state-imposed restrictions regarding tricycle and motorcycle operations in certain areas.

CP Oyeniyi emphasized the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and ongoing efforts to combat criminal activities. He urged residents to be vigilant and assist the police by providing timely and credible information regarding suspected criminal activities.
