Police arrest 23-year-old suspected cultist, Clinbaby in Delta

Police in Delta State have apprehended a 23-year-old man, Clinton Awuerowswo, alias Clinbaby, suspected of cult activity. His arrest took place on October 23, 2026, after he had evaded capture since March when law enforcement recovered firearms from his residence.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued from Warri. He reported that “operatives of the Oghara Division arrested Clinton Awuerowswo, alias Clinbaby, who had been at large following the recovery of firearms from his residence on March 23, 2026.”
Among the items recovered from Awuerowswo’s home were a Beretta pistol, two locally manufactured cut-to-size guns, three live cartridges, a battle axe, and a jackknife.
During preliminary investigations, Awuerowswo reportedly acknowledged ownership of the weapons and his affiliation with the Eiye confraternity. Authorities have indicated that investigations are ongoing.
In response to the rising concerns of cultism and illegal firearm possession, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Samuel Erale, has reiterated the police department’s commitment to eliminating criminal groups. He also encouraged residents to provide reliable information, assuring them of confidentiality in their reports.
