Police arrest two members of kidnap syndicate terrorizing communities in Yobe
The Yobe State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of the state. 

 

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Dungus Abdulkareem, who disclosed this to newsmen in Damaturu, said the suspects, Adamu Manu, 25, and Musa Alh. Tahiru, 28, belong to a syndicate that has been terrorizing the inhabitants of Banbangida and some parts of Dapchi, in the Bursari Local Government Area. 

 

The PPRO said the suspects were apprehended after receiving several kidnapping reports in the areas and the operatives successfully launched a manhunt on the syndicate. 

 

He said the suspects kidnapped two people at Monguno village in Tarmuwa LGA where they demanded a ransom of N30 million, which the victims’ relatives could not afford until they escaped from their den.

 

On 29th August 2023 at about 1640hrs information was received indicating a kidnapping incident where a gang of seven (7) with AK-47 rifles and other deadly weapons invaded a hamlet at Mongono village via Tarmuwa LGA and kidnapped two persons,” the PPRO stated.

 

 “The kidnappers later demanded a ransom of Thirty Million Naira (N30,000,000.00) of which the victims could not afford and after three weeks in captivity, the victims escaped from their abductors. 

 

“In the same vein, on 29th August 2023 at about 1500hrs, the culprits, a gang of four besieged one of their previous victims and seriously injured him in the process, forcefully carted away his valuables and the sum of Four Thousand Naira (N4,000.00)

 

“The victim was later rescued and taken to the hospital for medical treatment, and is now recuperating,”

 

The spokesperson noted that during the investigation, the arrested culprits have confessed to the commission of the alleged crimes.

 

He added that police operatives were on the trail of other members of the syndicate.
