Umunede Police and Anti-Cult Group Arrest Two Suspected Cultists
UMUNDE, Delta State — Operatives from the Umunede Police Division, in conjunction with members of the Umunede Civilian Anti-Cult Group, apprehended two suspected cultists and seized several firearms and illegal substances this past Friday.
The suspects, identified as Chibuike Ezeji, 30, and Ikenna Emeka, 22, were taken into custody on October 30, 2026. The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrests in a statement made in Warri.
According to Edafe, the operation was prompted by a report from a local resident, who alleged that Ezeji threatened him with a firearm. The incident reportedly occurred around 1:15 PM on the same day.
Following the report, police conducted a search which resulted in the recovery of a pump-action shotgun, a locally made cut-to-size gun, three locally made pistols, eight live cartridges, and substances believed to be cannabis and methamphetamine.
