Nigerian Police Arrest Four Suspected Bandits in Kaduna State

KADUNA, Nigeria — The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of four suspected bandits as part of an operation by the Special Tactical Squad of the Force Intelligence Department (FID-STS). The arrests took place on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area, following reliable intelligence.

Those detained include Abdumumini Abubakar, 40; Maikano Gambo, 47; Saleh Thompson, 47; and Oyonyi Odango, 40. According to a statement from Force Public Relations Officer Anthony Okon Placid, the suspects were apprehended while in possession of various firearms.

Authorities recovered four AK-47 rifles, along with magazines, eighty rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and one locally fabricated pistol with twenty rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects are connected to banditry and other violent criminal activities in the region. The police are continuing their efforts to locate other members of the suspected criminal network and to recover additional weapons.

Inspector-General of Police IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu praised the operatives for their professionalism during the operation and reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to combatting banditry and ensuring safety across the nation.
