Police, EFCC rescue 14 kidnap victims from Calabar-Oron waterways

Nigeria Police Force Rescues Fourteen Victims from Sea Pirates
CALABAR, Nigeria — The Nigeria Police Force, in cooperation with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), announced the successful rescue of fourteen individuals abducted by pirates along the Calabar–Oron waterways.
In a statement issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police Anthony Okon Placid, officials credited sustained intelligence operations and robust inter-agency collaboration for the rescue. The operations targeted criminal groups active in the maritime corridor.
According to the statement, the joint teams intensified surveillance and conducted targeted missions at identified hotspots, successfully recovering all victims unharmed.
“The rescued individuals are currently undergoing medical evaluations and necessary debriefing before being reunited with their families,” the statement noted.
Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu commended the security personnel involved, praising the operation as a demonstration of effective collaboration and intelligence-led actions.
The Nigeria Police Force assured the public that efforts to identify and apprehend all suspects involved in the abduction are ongoing.
