Police Engage Kidnappers in Ondo State, Two Suspects Killed
Operatives from the Ondo State Police Command fatally shot two individuals suspected of kidnapping in Ilu Abo, located along the Akure-Owo highway in the Akure North Local Council Area.
The incident occurred early Wednesday morning when a group of approximately seven suspects attacked a block industry in the community. Responding to a distress call, officers from the Federal Highway Patrol Unit arrived at the scene.
Police Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh confirmed that during the ensuing exchange of gunfire, two suspects were killed, while the remaining members of the gang fled into the nearby bush, reportedly with gunshot wounds.
“A patrol team from the Federal Highway Patrol Unit responded to a distress call regarding the activities of armed men at Olaiya Block Industry, situated beside Ilu-Abo High School,” Jimoh stated.
In the aftermath of the encounter, authorities recovered a locally fabricated pistol, live cartridges, four mobile phones, several face masks, and two ATM cards believed to belong to the suspects or their victims.
