Police Rescue Woman, Arrest Suspect in Delta State Incident
UGHELLI, Delta State — Authorities have rescued a 25-year-old woman who was reportedly assaulted and held hostage in the Usieffurun Community, Ughelli South Local Government Area. The incident led to the arrest of a 29-year-old man, Brotugbare Francis Onome.
The police operation took place on October 3, 2026, around 8:30 a.m., following credible intelligence received from the Ovwian-Aladja Division. Officers from the Otu-Jeremi Division mobilized to the location based on this information.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Bright Edafe confirmed the details in a statement issued from Warri. He noted that the victim was successfully rescued, and Onome was apprehended at the scene.
During the operation, law enforcement conducted a search of the premises, resulting in the recovery of a fabricated Beretta pistol, a magazine, and two rounds of live ammunition.
SP Edafe stated that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
