Police rescue five kidnapped victims, arrest three suspects in Kebbi

The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully rescued five individuals who were kidnapped and apprehended three suspects during a recent operation in Dakingari, located in the Suru Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Bashir Usman announced the developments in a statement released on Sunday. The operation was initiated following intelligence reports indicating that armed assailants had attacked Dolen Kwandage Village and taken three residents hostage: Samaila Abubakar, 35; Dayyaba Muhammadu, 32; and Balki Hakimi, 31.

Usman reported that police operatives, in collaboration with local vigilantes, pursued the assailants, ultimately compelling them to abandon their captives. The operation also resulted in the rescue of two additional victims, Moe Muddaha, 50, and Hadiza Bello, 30, who had been abducted earlier from Yarma Village in Suru LGA.

All five individuals were reported to have been rescued unharmed and were subsequently transported to the General Hospital in Dakingari for medical examinations before being reunited with their families.

The police spokesperson identified the arrested suspects as Umaru Janyo, 49, and Bube Kwaire, 28, both from Bendu Village, and Muhammadu Gyade, 22, from Tindifai Village. Usman noted that other members of the kidnapping gang managed to flee, reportedly with gunshot injuries.

During the operation, authorities recovered several items, including an unregistered Haojue motorcycle, cash amounting to 308,000 Naira, a chain, and a jerrycan.

Commissioner of Police Umar Hadejia commended the efforts of the operatives and their vigilante partners for their prompt response. The command has increased patrols and surveillance in the area and is actively pursuing the capture of the remaining suspects.
