Nasarawa Police Launch Manhunt Following Student Kidnapping

LAFIA, Nasarawa State — The Nasarawa State Police Command has initiated a manhunt for individuals suspected of kidnapping three students from the Federal University of Lafia.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel reported on Wednesday that the abduction occurred Tuesday night when armed men attacked the university area.

The incident was first reported to law enforcement around 9:20 PM by the Chief Security Officer of the university. The CSO indicated that the students were taken from Living Seed Lodge, situated on the outskirts of the student residential community.

In response to the distress call, Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed deployed tactical teams, patrol operatives, and additional security personnel to the location.

According to the police statement, the operatives swiftly mobilized and began a coordinated search-and-rescue operation in the surrounding forest, resulting in the successful rescue of one student.

The police emphasized that efforts are ongoing to locate and safely rescue the remaining two students still in captivity. Commissioner Mohammed has instructed all operational and intelligence resources within the command to continue their efforts until the victims are recovered unharmed.

“The Commissioner has assured the public that no effort will be spared in apprehending the individuals responsible for this crime,” SP Nansel stated.
