Police urge vigilance in Borno over rising IED threats

The Borno State Police Command has issued a public advisory urging residents to remain vigilant following recent incidents involving improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in various parts of the state.

In a statement released Thursday, police requested that community members pay close attention to their surroundings, particularly regarding suspicious objects. They specified that unattended items such as power banks, abandoned bags, nylon bags, parcels, and other unusual objects could pose potential security threats.

Residents are advised not to touch or move any suspicious items. Instead, they should promptly report such objects to the nearest police station or contact the emergency numbers provided by the command.

“Members of the public are strongly advised to remain vigilant and security conscious at all times,” said the advisory, which was signed by Command Public Relations Officer ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso.

The advisory also included emergency contact numbers for quick reporting: 08068075581 and 08023473293.
