Pregnant woman begs court to spare husband after he admits beating her
A five-month pregnant woman has requested leniency from a Sharia Court in the Kura Local Government Area of Kano State regarding her husband, Ladanai Salisu, who has admitted to assaulting her.
The hearing was presided over by Malam Mubashshir Abdulsalam. During the proceedings, the prosecuting officer, Corporal Saifullahi Nasidi, presented the charges against Salisu. After pleading guilty, Salisu’s wife confirmed the details of the assault but urged the court to exercise compassion.
The woman expressed her continued support for Salisu, highlighting their bond and their three children. “I still have sympathy for my husband, and we have three children together,” she told the court.
In its ruling, the court mandated Salisu to provide medication for his wife. He was also sentenced to one month in prison or an alternative fine of N10,000. Additionally, the court cautioned him against committing any further offenses.
