Abakaliki FC Announces 55-Day Break for Players, Staff
ABAKALIKI, Nigeria — Abakaliki FC has confirmed a 55-day break for its players and technical staff following the team’s exit from the President Federation Cup.
The club, known as the Rice Boys, plans to resume training on July 25, 2026. The announcement was made in a statement from the club’s chairman, Senator Obinna Ogba.
Ogba stated that the management would focus on addressing issues identified during the recently concluded season in preparation for the 2026–27 campaign. Further details regarding player retention will be shared in the future.
In their last outing, Abakaliki FC finished fifth in Conference B with a total of 25 points. Their run in the President Federation Cup ended after a defeat to Barau FC in the Round of 32 held in Abuja.
