Ranches: I won’t take decision against Benue’s interests — Gov Alia

Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has assured residents that any decisions regarding the Federal Government’s proposed ranching program will prioritize the interests of the state’s citizens.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor urged the public to exercise patience and engage in careful deliberation before politicizing the matter through gatherings, churches, social media, or marketplaces.

Kula emphasized that Governor Alia has consistently opposed any actions that may undermine the welfare of Benue State. He noted that the governor is actively consulting with stakeholders and relevant authorities regarding the ranching proposal.

“Governor Hyacinth Alia is a steadfast democrat who remains conscious that his mandate is a product of the people’s will,” Kula stated. “He has consistently maintained that every Benue resident is a vital stakeholder in our collective effort to enhance the state.”

The spokesperson highlighted that the governor’s leadership is characterized by service rather than mere authority. He called for a restrained approach to the discussion, given the Federal Government’s plans to establish pilot ranches in multiple states, including Benue.

“There is no need to hastily politicize this issue,” Kula added. “The governor is thoroughly weighing the implications of the proposal before making a decision.”

He reassured residents that Alia is dedicated to consulting with the community and relevant authorities while maintaining a strategic and careful approach to the matter. “Not every issue requires an immediate public statement,” Kula noted. “Sometimes, thoughtful deliberation yields better outcomes. Patience and careful engagement are essential as the government evaluates the proposal and seeks the best course of action for Benue.”
