Real reason I dumped Peter Obi – Prophet Isa El-Buba opens up
Plateau cleric Isa El-Buba has announced that he will no longer support Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), as the country prepares for the 2027 elections.
In an interview on the ‘Mic On’ podcast hosted by journalist Seun Okinbaloye on Saturday, El-Buba stated that he feels Obi lacks the necessary courage expected from a political leader.
El-Buba has shifted his support to Adewale Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), citing a belief that Adebayo possesses the qualities needed for effective leadership.
While acknowledging Obi as a “nice man,” El-Buba expressed concerns about weaknesses in Obi’s leadership that have influenced his decision to withdraw support. He emphasized that courage is a critical trait for leaders, especially when they encounter challenging situations.
“When a leader loses courage, you lose me,” El-Buba said. He further remarked, “I don’t think Obi is courageous. That’s an aspect of his weakness. Peter Obi has no business leaving the Labour Party and running here and there.”
El-Buba’s comments reflect a shift in political allegiance as the race for the presidency intensifies ahead of the upcoming election.
