Governor Urges Unity Among Taraba State Residents

JALINGO, Nigeria — Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State called for the maintenance of unity and peaceful coexistence among residents on Saturday, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect despite differences in religion, ethnicity, or politics.

Kefas made his remarks during a one-day summit organized by Hussaini Ismail, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Muslim Religious Matters. The event convened various Islamic organizations, religious leaders, scholars, and community stakeholders to discuss issues pertaining to peace, unity, good governance, and sustainable development in the state.

The governor cautioned against divisive tactics that could fracture the state along religious or ethnic lines, asserting that Taraba belongs to all its inhabitants. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting good governance and improving the welfare of the citizenry. He encouraged residents to support initiatives aimed at fostering a peaceful and united Taraba.

Participants at the summit acknowledged the governor’s administration for its contributions to education, peacebuilding, and the welfare of the people.

In addition to the governor’s address, Ismail urged Tarabans to dismiss sentiments of tribalism and political division that threaten peaceful coexistence. He praised the governor for his support of Islamic education and religious institutions, noting that these efforts have substantially advanced learning across the state.

Islamic scholars, traditional leaders, and other attendees also advocated for enhanced collaboration among government, religious institutions, and traditional authorities to promote peace, unity, and sustainable development in Taraba State.
