Reno Omokri reacts after Davido called him ‘Bingo’

Reno Omokri Responds to Davido’s Social Media Remarks

Reno Omokri, Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Mexico, has addressed recent comments made by singer Davido, who referred to him as “Bingo” in a social media post.

According to DAILY POST, Omokri attributed the delay in his official resumption in Mexico to the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Davido’s response came shortly after, where he criticized Omokri via a post that has since gained traction online.

In his reply, Omokri characterized Davido’s remarks as surprising and expressed disappointment over the choice of language used by the singer. He shared screenshots of the interaction on his Instagram account, stating that Davido seemed upset due to a previous critique regarding the customized jacket he wore during a World Cup performance. The jacket displayed the names of schoolchildren abducted in Oyo State, which Omokri had condemned.

“Dear Mr. David Adeleke, also known as Davido, thank you for your feedback. I was rather surprised by your response to my post. Most shocking is your insult,” Omokri wrote.

He continued, acknowledging Davido’s status as an international celebrity and suggesting that such behavior is unbecoming for someone in his position. Omokri expressed concern that while Davido’s intentions may have been well-meaning, his actions inadvertently drew attention to terrorist activities.

“I became concerned that your actions serve to publicize bandits and assist them in spreading fear,” Omokri added. He contrasted this with American influencer IShowSpeed, who used the World Cup platform to promote a positive image of Nigeria.

The exchange illustrates the tensions between public figures regarding the use of international platforms and the implications of their messages.
