Report suspicious movements promptly – Gov Adeleke to Osun residents
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local security agencies. His appeal comes in light of reports indicating potential terrorist threats targeting places of worship within the state.
The Department of State Security (DSS) issued an alert citing these planned attacks, prompting a heightened emphasis on public awareness and the sharing of information regarding security concerns.
In a statement released on Sunday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke urged the community to inform law enforcement about any unusual occurrences, particularly in border areas where unfamiliar individuals may be seen.
“We must supply the police and other security forces with intelligence reports regarding noticeable threats within our communities,” Adeleke stated. “Given the alleged plots to attack our places of worship, increased vigilance is essential. Report anything unusual without delay.”
The governor commended the DSS for its proactive approach in addressing the reported security risks. He also instructed other security agencies to evaluate the current situation and develop plans to enhance the safety and protection of citizens and property across Osun State.
Adeleke announced plans to convene a meeting of the State Security Council to assess the security landscape and review the effectiveness of existing response strategies.
“Residents must collaborate with security agencies through information sharing. Cooperation between communities and law enforcement is crucial,” he emphasized.
Additionally, the governor urged residents to be cautious about whom they allow into their communities and called on traditional rulers to hold meetings within their councils to discuss the ongoing developments.
“We must thwart the malicious intentions of those threatening public peace,” Adeleke added.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to maintaining peace in the post-election period and announced plans to strengthen security measures aimed at preventing disruptions by terrorists and bandits.
